COMPETITION TOURIST INFORMATION CENTER HOHENWARTE, HOHENWARTE RESERVOIR, THURINGIAN SEA
The intention of the design is a visually effective structure twisted in the “wind” as an identity-creating place with a high recognition value, which is mainly oriented in its form to the naturally occurring conditions of the location. This includes the phenomenon of the “tree flag” with its recording of the prevailing wind direction, as well as the topography of the terrain with its height differences. The observation tower is visible from afar and will become a landmark at the Hohenwarte dam and the surrounding forest.
The tourist information center responds to the topographical conditions and allows visitors to experience the water on the one hand and the forest areas on the other. The trees growing on the site are to be integrated into the exhibition areas as far as possible, so that their tall growth is visually and spatially supported by the surrounding 10 m high walls.
The top platform at 55.00 m serves as the main viewing platform. Further viewing platforms and tourist highlights such as the double rope slide and the fly-line through the adventure forest are staggered on the platforms below.
The symbolization of the prevailing wind currents at the site, which are expressed in the resulting natural triangular shape and the rotation of the tower, has an identity-forming effect.
