MULTI-FAMILY HOUSES BAYERISCHE STR. 27, BERLIN
In 2021, our office was entrusted with the extension of an existing front building and the construction of a new garden house at Bayerische Straße 27 in Berlin Wilmersdorf. The original building complex on the property dates back to the 19th century and, like many buildings along Bayerische Straße, was destroyed during the war. In the 1950s, the front building was reconstructed and modernized by the architects Zamioski and Montag.
To create new living space, the owner decided in 2021 to extend the existing building complex and construct a new 5-story rear building. The latter will be divided into a more massive three-story base and two recessed upper floors. The structure will also gain profile through protruding bay windows and inset balconies. The top floor of the front building, on the other hand, is characterized by its zinc cladding and rounded parapet, which merges directly into the roof surface and functions as a roof substitute.
Overall, the construction project is divided into two parts: the extension of the existing front building by one top floor with an apartment and the construction of a 5-story garden house with 4 apartments in the rear part of the property.
