AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE, MADRID

The residence of the German Ambassador in Madrid was designed by the renowned Bavarian architect Alexander Freiherr von Branca and constructed in the late 1960s. As an outstanding architectural work of its time and now listed as a historic building, it is set to undergo comprehensive renovation and renewal after 55 years of use.

As part of a preliminary building condition inspection, the structural condition, fire protection issues, and the technical systems were assessed for damage, deficiencies, and functionality.

Based on these findings, the Federal Office for Building Regulation and Spatial Planning has now renewed all areas of the building’s technical systems, fire protection, door and window systems, and security technology.

Functional structures are being reorganized and adapted to meet new requirements through architectural changes.

In December 2015, the firm Behzadi + Partner Architekten BDA was commissioned, through a nationwide VOF selection process, by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, Bonn, to oversee and plan the complete renovation and remodeling of the residence.
