WILHELM WANDER SCHOOL, LEIPZIG

In the eastern part of Leipzig stands the historic Wilhelm-Wander-School, built in 1883 and protected as a listed building. Over several years, the Wilhelm-Wander-School underwent extensive renovations, during which school operations were fully relocated to another building.

A major focus of the construction work was the renovation of the building’s exterior in accordance with heritage protection guidelines, including the restoration of the roof, façade, external windows, and doors.

Additionally, classrooms, corridors, and staircases were refurbished. Another key aspect of the renovation was upgrading the building’s fire protection systems, including the installation of smoke and fire doors, in close coordination with the heritage protection authority. The structural, historic façade elements were carefully restored according to visual guidelines and now shine with renewed brilliance. The renovation of the roof, façade, and waterproofing began in 2012.

Simultaneously, planning preparations for the interior work were carried out, which was gradually implemented starting in 2013. By the end of 2014, the extensive renovation work was completed and the project was successfully handed over.
