SPORTS CENTER MARTIN-LUTHER-UNIVERSITY HALLE-WITTENBERG

In 2018, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg applied for the construction of a sports center on the Heide-Süd campus. The new sports center will include a three-court hall, two functional rooms for martial arts and dance, climbing walls both indoors and outdoors, as well as changing rooms, sanitary facilities, and auxiliary rooms. The exterior area will feature a multipurpose sports field and a beach volleyball court. The interior of the hall will have dimensions of 27m x 53.5m and a clear height of 9.15m. A parallel, two-story building section will be added to the northeast of the hall, visually merging with the main structure. The recessed and lowered building entrance will create a distinct contrast with the main body while also providing a roof. The upper floor will include a seminar room, restrooms, and two functional rooms with sport-specific equipment. A technical level for ventilation units will be added above the mat storage and the inserted corridor area. The hall will be clad with expanded metal to give the building a sense of lightness and elegance despite its size.
