POLLITECH SPORTS HALL, LEIPZIG

A new sports hall is planned to be constructed on the site of the former military hospital on Bahnhofstraße in Leipzig. The building will be a standalone structure integrated into the existing complex, which is currently mostly used by the Federal Authority General Customs Directorate and is being expanded as a training and education facility. The new sports hall will feature a two-court sports hall on the main level. The building is intended for use in training, workshops, and further education. Additionally, various training rooms for self-defense and shooting practice will be provided on the upper and lower floors. The basement will also house a six-lane shooting range. The sports hall will also be temporarily usable as a meeting and examination room.

The building’s design is characterized by a modern and minimalist façade, featuring rectangular fiber cement panels with contrasting profile sections. Large windows with dark aluminum frames are arranged in a grid pattern to bring in consistent natural light. The design emphasizes functionality and simplicity, with clean lines and a utilitarian yet elegant aesthetic suitable for an urban environment.

The shell of the building was constructed between November 2023 and August 2024, with completion planned for mid-2025. Construction began in the summer of 2024.
