DESIGN CONCEPT SLAB AND HOUSING CONSTRUCTION FOR LWB, LEIPZIG
On behalf of LWB, we were tasked with developing three modern variations for each of three different apartment types (Plattenbauten P2.11 and WBS70, as well as 20/30s settlement construction) with the goal of creating a corporate design that could be utilized both by prospective tenants and by LWB for renovation purposes.
The three apartment types, which fall within a low to mid-range rental and renovation budget, were to be developed in three variations each, which could also be optionally combined element-wise according to budget constraints.
The variations proposed by our office, named Annika, Anna-Lena, and Anna-Maria, symbolically represent young/fresh, elegant, and classic styles.
The variations differ in both spatial and qualitative execution. For instance, this is defined by material choices (tiles, parquet, linoleum) and additional features such as built-in wardrobes or sliding door systems for bathrooms and rooms. The wardrobe, which was once common in the “Platte” (panel buildings), has been thematically reintroduced. We consider this a quality feature even in the lower price range. To keep investment costs down, we focused on the special design of secondary spaces in our proposals.
