FAÇADE COMPETITION SCHWÄGRICHENSTRASSE, LEIPZIG

The facade design, with its opening structures, mediates between the historical reference points of the neighboring Gründerzeit buildings and the internal functional structure of the new residential building.

The goal was to adapt the strict structural elements of the adjacent historic buildings into the open and modern language of the contemporary new construction. Along Schwägrichenstraße, the facade differentiates into a main section and a color-accented secondary section. The main section echoes the historical horizontal division by incorporating a central field with a bay window.
