ALBOURZ CASPIAN FISH REPRODUCTION-KARAJ/IRAN
In the city of Karaj, located on the southern slopes of the Alborz Mountains, a fish farming facility for salmon and trout has been operational since the 1930s. The site covers approximately 40 hectares and is structured with numerous water basins for breeding and sales.
Since around 2015, the facility and existing buildings have been undergoing gradual renovation and are being equipped with the latest water and laboratory technologies.
In the next phase of development, the site will be enhanced with publicly appealing functions such as exhibition spaces dedicated to the history of fish farming, restaurants, offices, and private fishing spots, among other features. The goal is for the facility to become a significant base for regional tourism.
Initial spatial and functional considerations are being examined for implementation. The building is designed in a rounded shape to evoke the movements of the fish. A large observation platform will offer views over the fish farming area.
Implementation is planned to start in mid-2018. Preparatory work began at the start of the year with the filling of some basins. For technical infrastructure support, the project is collaborating with Behjoo-Jadak from Tehran.
