BUILDING EXTENSION, LEIPZIG

In 2021, we were commissioned with the two-story extension of an existing building at the former military hospital in Leipzig Wiederitzsch.

The site is owned by LE Campus GmbH, which leases the buildings and corresponding areas to federal agencies such as the Customs Authority, the Federal Police, and the Technical Relief Organization (THW).

The two-story extension on the area of Building 2L is designed to create rental spaces for these agencies. The first floor will include ten office rooms for administrative staff and thirteen accommodation rooms for customs trainees and apprentices. The second floor of the extension will house twenty-three accommodation rooms, including service and ancillary rooms.

An internal covered light well will span both floors, providing a space for relaxation. Additionally, an extensive green roof will be installed, which will improve the view from above and provide extra vegetative space and rainwater retention.

The extension will be connected to the existing Building 2, integrating an existing staircase as an emergency exit and an elevator to serve both levels. A new main access will be created via a staircase on the northwest side of the building, opposite the existing structure.
