BERGSCHLÖSSCHEN HOUSE WIEDERITZSCH, LEIPZIG
The current “Haus Wiederitzsch” was originally built around 1880 under the name “Bergschlösschen Groß-Wiederitzsch” to serve as an inn and residence for the operator. The primary goal of the new architectural concept is to restore both the original appearance of the Bergschlösschen and maintain the urban orientation of the inn and the rear building.
In three phases of construction on the site at Delitzscher Landstraße 47, the unused inn “Haus Wiederitzsch” has been restored in accordance with heritage standards and expanded with a new hotel building and a connecting structure as a dining area.
After extensive technical assessment of the building’s fabric, conservation evaluations, and analysis of the structural stability of the historic front house, solutions were sought in coordination with the city of Leipzig and the client to preserve this substance. Unfortunately, the building had been unused for many years/decades and was ultimately too damaged, making demolition unavoidable.
The front house will now be reconstructed in its full splendor and original scale, dating back to around 1870/80, and will continue to be a significant part of the new building ensemble.
The location in Wiederitzsch, which is well-connected and prominent—situated between the New Messe and Leipzig’s city center—supports the concept of reviving the restaurant with additional accommodation options. The inn can accommodate approximately 150 visitors, and the new hotel can host up to 100 guests.
