Façade competition Schwägrichenstraße, Leipzig
On the occasion of an expert appraisal process, Behzadi + Partner Architekten BDA presented a façade design for an exposed plot of land in Leipzig’s music district.
The façade design with its opening structures is structured as an intermediary between the historical reference points of the neighbouring buildings from the Wilhelminian period and the internal functional structure of the new residential building. The aim was to adapt the austere structural elements of the adjacent existing buildings into the open and modern design language of the contemporary new building. Along Schwägrichenstraße, the façade is differentiated into a main and a colour-contrasting secondary part. The main part picks up on the historical horizontal structure by creating a central field with a bay window.
