Groundbreaking Living Alternative 50Plus

Together We Build the Future

With great joy and moving symbolism, we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the 50Plus housing alternative in Leipzig on June 6, 2025, a forward-looking project by the SaxenLeben e.V. association.

This is not an ordinary building being constructed here, but a place that uses sustainable and renewable materials, with a focus on energy efficiency and accessibility. A vibrant place for community, self-determination, and a dignified life in old age is planned.

This form of housing is aimed at people in midlife who share the desire to live in a supportive environment – independently, but not alone. The 50Plus housing alternative stands for a new way of living together, characterised by respect, solidarity, and activity.

This day was not only symbolically significant but also celebrated and communal in nature: Present were representatives of the city of Leipzig, the architectural firm Behzadi+, which is responsible for the design of this special house, as well as Zech-Bau GmbH, which was entrusted with its implementation. Numerous members of the SaxenLeben association also attended the ceremony with great joy. Many of them will live here in the future and actively fill this place with life.

Musically accompanied, the celebration was enhanced by atmospheric sounds that underscored the festive atmosphere and made the moment something truly special.

A highlight of the day was the placement of a time capsule in the concrete floor of the building under construction – filled with personal items, thoughts about the future, and above all, wishes from the future residents. This symbolic gesture represents hope, solidarity, and the belief in a better tomorrow.

With the laying of the foundation stone, a new chapter begins. May this house become a place of life, encounter, and mutual support – open, inclusive, and future-oriented.
