Complete renovation and conversion of the listed building, Grimmaische Straße 19, Leipzig
In addition to the ongoing interior work, the façade has now been dismantled and now the listed façade structure is revealed again. In the 1st quarter of 2021, the tenants of the retail space will move into their units on the ground floor. From the 2nd quarter of 2021, the hotel will also be ready for occupancy.
After several years of planning preparations, the client tackled the complete renovation and conversion of the listed building at Grimmaische Straße 19, in the immediate city centre of Leipzig. It is one of the few buildings left in the city of Leipzig that stands for a typical sign of former modern GDR architecture.
The design was designed by Hentrich-Petschnigg und Partner, Leipzig.
Since October 2019, Behzadi + Partner Architekten BDA has been in charge of the implementation planning for this and is now supervising the complete planning for the overall project on the basis of the tenant concepts for hotel and catering areas that B+ has been creating since the beginning of 2019.
The interior of the former city and district pharmacy will be completely restructured and the shell and fire protection side will be strengthened.
Until the elements have been dismantled, the façade will be based on the structures, materiality and colour effect created in the 1970s.
