Goethe-Institut in Lisbon, Portugal

On October 1st, the Goethe-Institut was ceremoniously reopened on the occasion of its 50th anniversary after extensive construction work.

In July 2011, the Federal Foreign Office commissioned Behzadi + Partner Architekten BDA as general planner for the implementation planning and structural implementation of the fire protection upgrade of the Goethe Institute in Lisbon.

In October 2011, the first demolition and shell construction work began. The listed building was rebuilt while the institute was still in operation. It was only thanks to the special commitment and prudence of the mainly Portuguese companies that the project could be implemented in this form. In 2010, the office already developed the preliminary planning documentation and the fire protection concept.
