New training centre for customs, Erfurt
Candidates for customs will be trained in Erfurt for the first time from 1 August. The associated training centre will follow soon after, as the conversion and renovation of the “old party college” in Erfurt is in full swing.
The old party college in Erfurt is currently being renovated, converted and extended in order to offer future customs candidates a functional and high-quality training centre. Particular attention is being paid to heritage protection, as the building is a typical example of GDR architecture from the 1970s and has been a listed building since 2008.
Plans include a single-storey extension and a four-storey extension on columns as well as the construction of a new two-court sports hall. In addition, the outdoor facilities in the inner courtyard and in the southern entrance area are to be restored in accordance with the preservation order.
